The most intriguing part of Japanese culture, beside Samurai with Bushido codex, is the world of Geikos. There are a lot of missconcepcions about Geikos. Geiko has the same meaning like Geisha, but in the district of Kyoto, where are almost all modern Geikos inhabitated, they prefer name Geiko. I will try in several posts to describe this world. My friends will be so kind to translate it to you.

In short, a geiko is a woman, highly trained in the arts, who is paid to entertain at parties with games, music, dance, or conversation. She must stroke the ego and make her clients feel like they can do no wrong, while providing a lively and comfortable environment.
